The Plan – Unit 4

For this assignment I was told to watch four films, two they chose and two I would choose. The films are; Django Unchained & Four Lions for the chosen movies. The movies I chose are going to be Wind River and Get Out. We were told to pick films that had a representation on race, culture and ethnicity.

For my first film I will be going about Django Unchained. I will watch it and analyse it throughout based on the representation of race, culture and ethnicity. Watching through it and writing down notes.

The second film will be Four Lions, a film about Muslims wanting to be suicide bombers, but in a comedic term and basically taking the mick out of suicide bombers and their stupid thoughts.

The third film will be Wind River, a film about a hunter in Wyoming who finds a dead body and needs to partner up with an FBI agent and solve the murder. The film itself doesn’t have a lot of reason to be on this list as the two main characters are white, but everyone else around them is Native-American. So there is a big representation of Native people, but although it isn’t as much as the other films, I still wanted to do this as it’s different.

The fourth film is Get Out, a very good film about an interracial relationship who is meeting the white girl’s parents. You feel worried at first as her parents are pretty old and are small minded but as they get into the house, a whole new story and experience have begun. The film deals with racism on a weird level.
