Screenshot 1; The Start
Here we have my first shot for my editing process, I like to do a three step process with this, the start. middle and end. Here is the start, as you can see I have started putting a few clips together, which are all the first segment of my music video. Here the director wanted a corny lame dance where one guy was trying to get the party starting but the others where just not bothered. You can also see that I already have 4 different audios being used. One if the first “Sexy and I Know It” song, the other is a record scratch, the other is a heaven sounding track for when “Usher” opens the door in a silhouette and then finally of course there’s the Usher – Yeah! song.
My thoughts at this point and the image of the music video in my head was that I wanted it to be fast paces with quite a lot of fast cuts too, but for it to not just rely on that, to make sure people get longer glimpses of the actor, lighting and camera movement.

From this second image we have the middle process of editing. if you look closely you can see a lot of cuts and small boxes for a lot of clips, from what I said in the start I wanted this to be fast paced with a lot of cuts, but wanted it to not be too much – which I tried to keep to my word here. You can see I also have a top layer for one clip around the start which is actually a duplicated clip for the blur out of the silhouette scene, the doors had “do not open” written on them so I blurred them out.
Screenshot 3; The End
For the final picture, it’s basically the same as the second one but with a lot more clips involved, which again, is keeping to my word of fast cuts. You can also see a lot of black spaces between them and that is for part of the song when a certain beat drops to add more effect. For the end of the chorus I wanted it to very quickly cut into black while it’s into the beat to just make it stand out a little bit more.
If I were to redo this video again, I would mess around with the colour grading more, I felt like I could’ve made the colours stand out more than they already do but because the song is 4 minutes long and the song is very fast paced, the editing process had to be that which makes it harder. If I were to redo this I would find more time to edit and plan better than previous.
I would also like to mess around with any special effects that would somehow work their way into this music video, not sure what I could do with it but just experimenting with all types of special effects to bring it more attention.
