In this project, I wasn’t really inspired by anything all that much, I wanted to test something new and give it a try, I didn’t know what documentaries to watch so I just watched parts of wildlife ones and character ones since I am using both those techniques, the voice of god, in a commentary style and following a character at the same time, the one I used for the voice over parts was any documentary with David Attenborough, I think his voice is very good for such thing and I want to kind of mimic the style he does while doing mine. The one I watched parts of was called “Our Planet” and had some insightful commentary over the the footage, it’s very straightforward and doesn’t seem to assume anything, it’s leading you in and not making you think anything else, which for a certain part of mine would fit in, when I would be explaining my types of styles for each game I photograph.
The other documentaries I looked at were actual previous college documentaries that were following a certain character and their story. They had some insightful information I was interested by, the cuts, the locations, the things they were saying which may help me for my own when I start to think about what shots I want and when I do my script.
For lighting, I want it to be subtle lighting, not with big bright light because I don’t need that, I will most likely use soft boxes as they aren’t bright and don’t wash out the face, I was told a tip to face one of the lights on the wall facing me so the light reflects off that onto my dace, leaving with subtle lighting that doesn’t wash out the face.
